Sculptor Louis LongiÕs proposal to build affordable apartments and workspace for artists divides the city of Laguna Beach in a bitter political battle thatÕs taken its way from city council meetings all the way to the state coastal commission.
The fight has pitted artists against environmentalists, neighborhood associations against city council members, and longtime residents against newcomers, all over the fate of the site of the proposed development -- one of the most important roads in Orange County, the Laguna Canyon.
